[livejournal.com profile] alewbel bought an HD TV before investing in cable, and we were interested to discover that we got HD stations (including the extra PBS ones you mentioned)with our old rabbit ears. I'm glad to hear that your converter+TV+rabbit ears system works fine. That's what my parents are planning to do.
